Today I am glad to back on a theme I already worked on, because I think it is never quite enough to underline the importance of reading and also storytelling with kids education.
It is also very interesting to see how in the different parts of the world people show their talent to play with students making them live these magical experiences.
That is the exact case of what Book Nook-Reading from Jaipur, India, does and I have to suggest to carefully watch the videos about the teacher’s work.
She shows to play and enjoy it, first crucial fact, she play with the kids, bringing them in, making them protagonists, second fundamental aspect.
Third, and so on, look how she reads and tells stories as in a theatre, making the classroom a place to watch a live show.
Yes, incredibly live as a school should always be.

Storytelling at school

Well, I do not understand the language of the today video.
However, as I wrote before, I do not think that words meaning are so relevant in storytelling.
The true meaning is a large aspect of the whole work.
More than all at school with kids, where you have a very openminded audience, you have to pay attention to a greater number of ingredients that could make your story alive.
You may see in the storytelling clip by Amanda Hughes how much some tips are important.
The calm voice of the storyteller, the measure of the book, with large and nice pages and moreover the wonderful drawings behind her. Children's drawings, that is a perfect choice, I think.
She shows to be 'inside' the kids imagination, phisically.

Storytelling by Tess India

Today I am glad to share with you a very praiseworthy initiative.
You can see in the clip (Kannada commentary) a teacher showing the importance of storytelling in school with kids.
Tess India (Teacher Education through School-based Support in India) is an Open University funded by UK aid from the UK government.
I think that is all very appreciable, storytelling in school and a supporting education in other countries.

Filmed in primary and secondary schools in India, the aim of the videos is to inspire teachers to experiment with using similar approaches in their own classrooms. The videos are intended to complement the text-based TESS-India materials for teachers and school leaders. However, they may also be viewed independently of these materials.
TESS-India (Teacher Education through School-based Support in India) is an Open University, UK led teacher education project that has collaboratively developed a large repository of freely available, adaptable Open Educational Resources (OER) that support national education priorities in India. The resources are accessible in a range of media and languages, for use in multiple initial and continuing teacher development contexts.

Today, here is again an activity I support very much: inspiring kids with stories.
That is the fine work I found in Mango Readers, Jaipur, Rajasthan (India): Mangoreaders - we love reading. Inspiring kids to read, create, share and learn with stories. Storytelling for under 5's

What can I say? Even if the video quality is not the best, this is a very good example of storytelling with kids.
The storyteller Deborah Peck perfectly knows the fundamental principles: she use voice, telling and singing, face expressions and body acting, and more than all she shows to play with kids, the real secret.

Body Parts Storytelling

I want to underline this, showing this very nice video of storytelling with kids (the story is about snow man). You can write teaching instead of storytelling too, it is the same to me.
Speaking to kids means doing this.
Look at this smart storyteller/teacher: she is 'down' with them, at their level, watching things with their wonderful and precious point of view.
This is the way making stories become something alive.
